Commissioners to hear financial and tourism update from Fostoria officials
Also to discuss matters related to proposed industrial wind turbine projects

[Tiffin, OH Sept. 24, 2019] – The Seneca County Board of Commissioners is to meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at its office, 111 Madison St.
At about 10:15 a.m., Renee Smith, the president of Fostoria Economic Development Corp., is to update the board on economic happenings from the city of Fostoria. Smith’s report is to be followed by a report from Michele Cochran, of the Fostoria Area Visitors Bureau.
During old business, the commissioners are to discuss several matters related to proposed industrial wind turbine projects.
A proposed Road Use Maintenance Agreement and a feedback letter that could be sent to the Federal Aviation Administration are to be addressed.
During the Sept. 5 meeting, the board tabled two resolutions that would have rescinded and replaced the 2016 Road Use Maintenance Agreement to reflect that some townships had withdrawn from the agreement to negotiate their own. The only change to the 2019 proposed agreement is that some townships are left off it.
Last week, County Engineer Mark Zimmerman answered questions from the board related to the RUMA and the commissioners agreed to continue researching the topic before either signing or proposing changes to the document. The discussion is expected to continue Thursday.
Also last week, the commissioners decided to table discussion on a letter drafted by Commissioner Anthony Paradiso. The letter brings attention to potential concerns with the proposed Seneca Wind industrial turbine project that could adversely affect the Seneca County Airport. Discussion of the letter is expected to continue Thursday, as the letter is due Sept. 28.
In other action, the commissioners are to discuss their social media policy and the county’s contribution to its employees’ Health Savings Accounts. The board also is expected to consider an appointment to the Law Library Resources Board.

During new business, the board is to consider:
* A $497.59 supplemental appropriation to the Sheriff’s Office Impaired Driving Enforcement Fund.
* Accepting the bid and entering into a contract with Erie Blacktop, Inc. for the Taxiway Pavement Rehabilitation Project on behalf of the Seneca County Airport.
* Authorizing the disposal of unneeded, obsolete or unfit county-owned property – a 1996 Ford Wheeled Coach Ambulance, on behalf of Seneca County EMS.
