Commissioners to meet via Zoom Thursday, hear CARES Act updates

[Tiffin, OH Dec. 1, 2020] – The Seneca County Board of Commissioners is to meet at 10 a.m. Thursday.
The commissioners are encouraging residents to join them in the online meeting through the application Zoom. To maintain maximum accessibility, the meeting will be recorded, archived and streamed live through Zoom. Residents can join the meeting by computer or mobile device at the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/92595230790?pwd=c0d1cVJ0MVY4RXUwSERweXo4SnE2QT09. Residents also can download the Zoom meeting app and join with meeting ID 925 9523 0790. The passcode for the meeting is 453802. Those who would rather call in and listen to the audio of the meeting can dial (646) 558-8656 and use the meeting ID and then enter the passcode.
The meeting also is to be streamed on Facebook Live on the Seneca County Commissioners page.
At about 10:30 a.m., Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership representatives are to update the board on the Seneca CARES Small Business Relief Grant Program. The commissioners made $300,000 available through the program in an attempt to assist businesses adversely affected by COVID-19.
In total, the commissioners partnered with several community organizations to make $1.25 million available through grant programs to help residents, nonprofits and businesses. Great Lakes Community Action Partnership, for example, was allocated $250,000 to assist Seneca County residents negatively impacted by the pandemic.
On Thursday, RuthAnn House, president and CEO of GLCAP, will update the board on the programs the money has helped to fund through her agency. Some programs available for residents include rent/mortgage assistance, utility assistance and food assistance.
Applications are still being accepted by GLCAP, Tiffin-Seneca United Way and Seneca County Department of Job and Family Services. For more information, reach out to any or all of these entities.
In other action, Seneca Regional Planning Commission personnel will join the session for a public hearing related to Community Development Block Grant projects. The commissioners also are to consider authorizing the Sewer District Billing and Administrative contract service agreement between the regional planning commissioner and the Seneca County Commissioners on behalf of the Seneca County Sanitary Engineer.
In other business, the commissioners are expected to discuss the 2021 budget, the December board schedule, the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial request and a contract for the Seneca County Museum.

During new business, the board is to consider:
* Appointing Patricia Smith to the Seneca County (169) Board on behalf of the Seneca County Opportunity Center.
* Authorizing Seneca County Job and Family Services to transfer TANF funds to Morrow County Job and Family Services.
* Establishing the Fiscal Year 2020 COSSAP Fund on behalf of the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.
