Seneca County Commissioners honor EMS workers during National EMS Week

The Seneca County Commissioners presented local EMS staff with a proclamation in gratitude of their vital work in the county and in recognition of National EMS Week on May 19-25 during the May 22 meeting. Attending the meeting to accept the proclamation on behalf of countywide EMS workers were Seneca County EMS Director Chris Hafley, Echo Paramedic Pat Rogers and Administrative Assistant Lynn Love.

Commissioner Bill Frankart was particularly appreciative of the county’s EMS workers after witnessing their response to an automobile accident near his home last week.

“I was very impressed to see how well you guys are orchestrated,” Frankart said. “I got to see firsthand how well you do protecting our citizens in the county.”

Hafley was grateful for the acknowledgement of his staff’s efforts.

“EMS Week is a way to bring honor to EMS workers in the nation and the work we do,” Hafley said. “In Seneca County, we’re blessed to have an EMS system that we’re improving every day.”

During the commissioners’ reports, Frankart said he will be deposed at the Sandusky County Courthouse on May 28 as part of a lawsuit filed by WIN Waste of Seneca County landfill, also known as Sunny Farms Landfill, against the Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca (OSS) Solid Waste District.

“I’m being deposed in Sandusky County for a lawsuit Sunny Farms has against OSS,” Frankart said.

Commissioner Tyler Shuff said the May 16 Barking Lot Party he helped organize, which is a Downtown Tiffin Third Thursday event, was very successful. About 60 businesses participated.

“There were over 1000 people downtown shopping local,” Shuff said.

Attorney Jim Supance attended the commissioners’ meeting to answer questions about a proposed petition to grant the annexation of an approximately 79-acre parcel of land in Clinton Township to the City of Tiffin. The petition was approved by the commissioners.

Seneca County Administrator Barb Patterson reminded the public that the 2024 Tiffin Memorial Day Parade, which is being organized by Your Legacy Federal Credit Union, will be held on Monday, May 27, at 10 a.m. The parade will begin at St. Joseph Church and head north along Washington St. to Frost Parkway, where a memorial ceremony will be held at 11 a.m.

The next Seneca County Commissioners’ meeting will be held on Thursday, May 30, at 10 a.m.
