Seneca County Commissioners pass resolution to withdraw from OSS during Nov. 14 meeting

The Seneca County Commissioners passed a resolution to withdraw from the Ottawa Sandusky Seneca Joint Solid Waste Management District (OSS) during the Nov. 14 meeting. According to the resolution, the commissioners wish to withdraw from OSS because they “find that the needs of the citizens of Seneca County for the management, recycling, and disposal of solid waste would be more effectively served by a single-county solid waste management district operated solely by Seneca County.”
During their commissioners’ reports, the commissioners talked about the many events and meetings they attended during the week to stay connected to residents and proactively work to improve the county. Among many other activities, Commissioners Tyler Shuff and Bill Frankart attended the Celebrate Youth Luncheon hosted by Rotary Club of Tiffin and Seneca County Family & Children First Council at Camden Falls Reception & Conference Center on Nov. 12.
“It was a nice tribute to the kids and adults,” Frankart said.
Commissioner Anthony Paradiso spoke with the Federal Aviation Administration regarding the Seneca County Airport’s ten-year plan which includes the possibility of an eventual extension of the runway.
“We want to extend the runway, and this is the big step to determine if it’s warranted,” Paradiso said.
In other business, the commissioners approved 30 supplemental appropriations and passed nine resolutions. Among them was a resolution to set Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 10 a.m. to accept sealed bids to lease farmland situated in Eden Township, near the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.
The next Seneca County Commissioners’ meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 10 a.m.
