Locals have the opportunity to enjoy one of only seven independent fairs in Ohio when they visit the Attica Independent Fair on Tuesday, Aug. 6 through Saturday, Aug. 10. The fair will kick off with an opening ceremony on Aug. 6 at 9 a.m.
New to the fair this year is the Bulls & Barrels Rodeo on Friday, Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. The fair will bring back many perennial favorites, including the OSTPA Truck & Tractor Pulls on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. and the annual Cheerleading Competition on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 5 p.m.
“We have 18 to 20 cheerleading teams every year,” said Attica Fair Board President, Tanya Nagel.
The Beer Garden opens at 5 p.m. each night and features beer garden entertainment later in the evening. Other events featured throughout the week are harness racing, a kids pedal pull, draft pony pulls and Jr. Fair judging.
“Our inflatables are a big hit,” Nagel said. “We’ve talked about getting rides, but people want us to keep the inflatables.”
The Pig Scramble, held this year on Thursday, Aug. 8 at 7:40 p.m., is always a big draw.
“A lot of local kids get in on that. We usually have a packed grandstand,” Nagel said.
Kids Day on Wednesday, Aug. 7, will feature a variety of kids activities in the Social Hall in the afternoon.
“We’ll have crafts and activities, and the library is involved,” Nagel said. “It started a couple of years ago and has really grown.”
Daily Gate Admission is $8 for ages five and over. Admission and special event tickets can be purchased at https://atticafair.com/tickets/. The fair schedule can be found at https://atticafair.com/events/. Visit the “Attica Fair” Facebook page for updates.
