City of Tiffin to Dedicate Ella Street Bridge in Honor of Rich Focht

Ceremony to celebrate the legacy of a beloved community leader and his contributions to Tiffin

The City of Tiffin, in partnership with the Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce, invites the community to a special dedication ceremony on Wednesday, October 23, at 4 PM to officially rename the Ella Street Bridge as the Rich Focht Bridge, in honor of the beloved community leader for his lasting impact on the city.

Originally constructed in 1914 and rehabilitated in 1979, the Ella Street Sandusky River Bridge has long been a vital thoroughfare in Tiffin, accommodating an impressive 4,000 vehicles daily. Recognizing its importance, the City of Tiffin had been planning its replacement for many years. Using a combination of levy funds and grant dollars, the $4 million bridge project was completed at the end of 2023 without taking on additional debt.

This dedication ceremony is not only a celebration of the bridge’s transformation but also a tribute to Rich Focht’s contributions to the community. Rich played a pivotal role in the economic development of Tiffin, serving as the Tiffin City Administrator and the President and CEO of SIEDC and the Tiffin Area Chamber of Commerce. His visionary leadership and dedication to public service made him a key figure in the city’s progress and growth.

By renaming the bridge in his honor, the City of Tiffin recognizes Rich’s efforts to connect and uplift the community. The Rich Focht Bridge will stand as a lasting reminder of his legacy and the positive impact he made on the lives of Tiffin residents.

Mayor Lee Wilkinson expressed his appreciation for Rich Focht’s legacy, “Rich Focht’s contributions to Tiffin’s development and success are immeasurable. His leadership helped shape the community we all know and love today. Dedicating this bridge in his honor symbolizes the many ways Rich connected us – not just physically through infrastructure, but through his vision, leadership, and dedication to public service. The Rich Focht Bridge will serve as a permanent reminder of the lasting impact he has had on Tiffin, and we are grateful for everything he has done for our city.”

All are welcome to join this meaningful event to honor Rich Focht and celebrate his legacy.
