[Tiffin, OH – March 7, 2023] – Seneca County Commissioner Bill Frankart attended the 2023 County Commissioners Association of Ohio (CCAO) New Member Training at the Doubletree Hotel in downtown Columbus last week.

The three-day event featured sessions and networking opportunities for new commissioners and seasoned commissioners alike. During the training, attendees had the chance to visit the Statehouse and meet with legislators.

“I attended the new commissioner training that the CCAO put on in Columbus. During the 3-day event, there were several sessions and networking opportunities to visit with new commissioners and seasoned commissioners. We had several opportunities there and at the Statehouse visit with our legislator. The event gave all of us new commissioners tremendous insight into the knowledge and leadership skills needed to be a successful commissioner and representative for our county,” said Frankart.

New Member Training also featured presentations by experienced commissioners, county staff, and CCAO/CORSA/CEBCO staff. On Tuesday, attendees heard from John Trott, Executive Director of the Greater Ohio Workforce Board; Ben Vollrath, President of the Logan County Chamber of Commerce; and Darnita Bradley, Senior Manager Local Government Affairs & External Engagement at JobsOhio, who spoke about the role of elected officials in economic and workforce development.

In addition, new members had the opportunity to meet with directors in the DeWine-Husted administration, including Kimberly Murnieks, Director of the Ohio Office of Budget and Management; Lori Criss, Director of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services; Matt Damschroder, Director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services; and Brian Baldridge, Director of the Ohio Department of Agriculture.

The County Commissioners Association of Ohio is committed to advancing effective county government for Ohio through legislative advocacy, education and training, technical assistance and research, quality enterprise service programs, and greater citizen awareness and understanding of county government.
