Commissioner Brent Busdeker
Biography
Brent D. Busdeker was elected to a four-year term in January 2025 as a Seneca County Commissioner. He holds a B.A. in Journalism & Communications from The Ohio State University. Busdeker has been a business owner of both King Industrial Supply and KGS, Ohio with his two brother-in law’s. For over two decades, they have successfully built and managed the businesses together providing products and services throughout Ohio. He is also known for his fiscal responsibility and conservative approach to decision-making.
Busdeker is originally from Pemberville, Ohio and grew up in a house involved heavily in the agriculture community. He grew up bailing hay and raising tomatoes, caring for his family’s horses on his grandparents’ farm, cutting firewood, and riding ATV’s.
He graduated from Eastwood high school before attending Ohio State. He understands the value of hard work as Busdeker worked full-time at Oakland Nursery in Columbus paying his way through school. Also, while attending OSU, he met his wife, Lynn. They moved back to Seneca County after college to start their family, and are proud parents to Luciano “Luc”, Gianna, and Vincenzo “Vinnie”. Their family is also a part of St. Joseph Church. Busdeker has been an active member of the community having served on the YMCA board, coaching wrestling at Tiffin Middle School, as well as previously coaching Tiffin Youth Football. Busdeker’s first meeting as commissioner was on January 3, 2025.
Get to know your Commissioner
Favorite local restaurant: There are several good restaurants in the county. However, I tend to spend a lot of my time at GW’s as my family enjoys eating breakfast out and we have had a lot of great times there.
Favorite road in the county: I really like the scenic view on north county road 33. The section of the road between Tiffin and Old Fort out by Isaac Walton.
Favorite Park in the county: I would say Garlo Park as it is a beautiful preserve. My wife and I have enjoyed taking our bullmastiff Athena there on walks.
Why did you want to be a commissioner: My wife Lynn and I have created a good life in Seneca County raising our children here. I felt it was time to give back. I hope to use the skills and experiences I have to continue the positive direction Seneca County is moving in.
Favorite U.S. President: Ronald Reagan. I loved listening to his fireside chats growing up. He was a great communicator, and I always enjoyed listening to and watching him on television.
Hobbies: I’m a huge Ohio State Fan, as my wife and I met there and both graduated from OSU. I love the outdoors, lifting weights and spending time with friends and family.
Interesting fact most people don’t know: We had 3 horses growing up and 2 billy goats. My brother and I had to take care of them daily.
Favorite music: 70’s, 80’s and 90’s rock. Pink Floyd, AC/DC and Country
Favorite TV show and/or movie: NCIS, History shows, comedies and action-adventure movies
