County EMA to begin work on hazard mitigation plan

The Seneca County Emergency Management Agency will begin updating the county’s hazard mitigation plan in August. Public officials and the community are invited to the Hazard Mitigation Kick-Off Meeting on Thursday, August 22, 2019. The meeting will be held at 3:00 pm and repeated at 7:00 pm in the training room at the Public Safety Building, 126 Hopewell Avenue, Tiffin. The purpose of these meetings is to introduce the project and begin gathering input from community partners.

The goal of the hazard mitigation plan is to analyze local disaster risks and vulnerabilities and identify opportunities to reduce those risks prior to a disaster. Seneca County’s plan was most recently updated in 2015. The Federal Emergency Management Agency requires mitigation plans to be updated every five years.

This meeting is open to the public. RSVPs can be submitted to the Seneca County EMA at (419) 447-0266 x10 or jspahr@senecacountyohio.gov.
