The Seneca County Commissioners have been actively engaged in the community since the last commissioners’ meeting two weeks ago. Among the meetings and events they attended were the OneOhio Region 17 informational meeting, GLCAP meeting, Extension Advisory Committee meeting, and the first hearing for Loudon Township proposed zoning.
Prior to the meeting, the commissioners attended the 2024 Legislative Breakfast hosted by Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce and hosted by Chamber Executive Director Bryce Riggs. The event’s featured speakers were State Senator Bill Reineke, State Rep. Gary Click, Seneca County Commissioner Tyler Shuff and City of Tiffin Mayor Lee Wilkinson. Commissioner Shuff provided an overview of the county’s activities and achievement in the last year.
During her report, County Administrator Barb Patterson said February county sales tax, which is posted in April, was significantly down from the previous month and the previous year. Sales tax constitutes 50 percent of the county budget.
The commissioners approved two supplemental appropriations and eight resolutions, including a resolution setting June 6 at 10 a.m. to receive sealed bids for the OPWC Issue 1 Round 38, PY24 Road Project.
The May 2 commissioners’ meeting will begin early at 9 a.m.
