Board to hear quote Tuesday for work on ramp at the county airport
County museum update and an investment in the county’s rainy-day fund” also on the agenda

[Tiffin, OH Oct. 1, 2018] – Seneca County Commissioners are to meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the board’s office, 111 Madison St.
The board is to hear a quote for construction work at Seneca County Aiport. The quote, for $11,652, includes seal coating the airport’s ramp.
Seneca County Museum Executive Director Tonia Hoffert is scheduled to give an update about the museum at about 10:15 a.m.
Hoffert is expected to discuss news and upcoming events related to the museum. The commissioners also are to discuss the museum’s 2019 budget.
At about 10:45 a.m., Republic Sons of the American Legion Commander Mike Schreiner, is to invite commissioners and the community to a December event to raise money for Seneca County veterans.
The second-annual Salute our Veterans event is Dec. 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the Meadowbrook Park Ballroom in Bascom. Clark Manson is to headline a concert, with performances from Brent Lowry and The Drifters, and The Eric Sowers Band to kick off the festivities.
Schreiner said proceeds will be donated to county veteran assistance agencies. Presale tickets are $25, with tickets sold the day of the show for $30. Tickets are available at The Viaduct Bar and Grille, Simply Susan’s, Sauced and Sauber’s Stumble Inn. For more information or to purchase tickets online, visit www.salutetoourveterans.com.
Schreiner said last year’s event raised about $8,500 for veterans.

During appropriations, the commissioners are to consider:
* A $125,000 supplemental appropriation to the General Fund. The money is part of a quarterly investment in the county’s Budget Stabilization Fund, or “rainy-day fund.” The board created the fund in April to protect against future economic trouble. Commissioner Mike Kerschner said in April that creating the fund was a good plan because of the uncertainty of the future strength of the economy.
“We can do the opposite of what other government entities do,” Kerschner said in April. “Instead of spending our grandchildren’s money, we can put it in a savings account.”
* A $29,221 appropriation adjustment within the Maintenance and Repair Fund on behalf of the county engineer. The adjustments move funding from contract services to materials.
* A $1,000 and a $4,000 supplemental appropriation for travel and equipment, respectively, on behalf of the county juvenile and probate court.
* Establishing the Information Technology Advisory Committee.

At about 11 a.m., the board is to hold an executive session to discuss personnel.
