Commissioners to hear museum update, open bids for school of opportunity project
[Tiffin, OH Feb. 26, 2019] – The Seneca County Board of Commissioners is to meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at the commissioners’ office, 111 Madison St.
The meeting is slated to begin with a 2018 year in review report from Seneca County Museum personnel. Several county departments have visited meetings to give annual reports so far this year, including Seneca County Department of Job and Family Services and Seneca County EMS. Presentations are to continue throughout the first half of the year.
At about 10:15 a.m., the Old Fort Teen Leadership group is to address the board. Members from the organization hosted a Teddy Bear Toss this month during a basketball game between Old Fort and Calvert. Hundreds of stuffed animals were tossed onto the court, and the bears are to be donated to Seneca and Sandusky County Children’s Services.
At about 10:30 a.m., a bid opening for the Seneca County School of Opportunity Improvement Project is to occur.
Also, county representatives will give a presentation on the wellness program offered to county employees.
During old business, an update on the Active Transportation Plan is to be given by Seneca Regional Planning Commission Executive Director Charlene Watkins.
In September, SRPC made concept maps and other ideas related to the plan available to the public during an open house. The grant-funded, $100,000 study is to establish a countywide strategy evaluating walking, bicycling and busing. It is to provide maps and show how to upgrade the trail system and connect it with trail systems in other counties.
In new business, potential roof repairs at the Seneca County DJFS building are to be considered. Commissioner Mike Kerschner also is to give information about a countywide Bounty in the County event to collect food and essential non-food items for those in need in the community. The collection is to occur throughout March. More information will be released Thursday.
During appropriations the board is to consider:
-> A $22,000 supplemental appropriation to the General Fund for Tiffin Seneca Economic Partnership funding.
-> A $4,500 supplemental appropriation to the General Fund for contract services as the county airport.
-> An $89,500 supplemental appropriation to the General Fund for contract services.
