In new business, the board is to discuss the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Committee. The MLK Jr. Day Committee is full of leaders from across the community, including representatives from Heidelberg and Tiffin University. The group sponsors events annually to honor King Jr. and to celebrate and promote racial equality in the community.
Reverend Paul Stark, from Heidelberg, and other members from the committee are expected to address the board Thursday. The group initially planned to visit a meeting earlier this month but rescheduled for this week.
In other business, Seneca Regional Planning Commission Executive Director Charlene Watkins is to discuss moving some funds from the 2019 Community Development Block Grant Program to pay for additions to the Melmore Park project.
Some money was leftover from the Bloomville sidewalk improvement project, and Watkins hopes it can be used for additional Melmore park improvements.
The county’s 2019-2020 allocation through the CDBG Program was about $158,000. The money is being used on four projects, which were prioritized and chosen by the public through the Community Development Implementation Strategy meeting process.
The projects that received funding include $9,400 for the Tiffin-Seneca United Way and Fostoria United Way for homelessness prevention, $43,100 for park improvements in Melmore, $31,600 for administration and Fair Housing and $73,900 to be used as a match for the Village of Bloomville’s Neighborhood Revitalization Grant application. After the Village of Bloomville did not receive that grant, money was used for sidewalk improvements in the village.
In old business, the discussion is expected to continue on the future of the Seneca County Museum.
During new business, the board is to consider:
* A $22,599 supplemental appropriation to the Maintenance and Repair Fund for signs.
* Accepting the amounts and rates as determined by the Budget Commission and authorizing the necessary tax levies and certifying them to the county auditor.
* Authorizing the amendment for Access-Visitation Grant, SFY2020 with Patchworks House on behalf of the Seneca County Department of Job and Family Services.
* Authorizing the county administrator to sign a lease agreement with Perry Protech for a Konica Bizhub C300i full-color printer/copier/scanner for the Commissioners’ Office.
