Commissioners to continue discussion on Seneca County Museum, hear from TSEP
[Tiffin, OH Oct. 6, 2020] – The Seneca County Board of Commissioners is to meet at 10 a.m. Thursday via Zoom.
The commissioners are encouraging residents to join them in the online meeting through the application Zoom, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. To maintain maximum accessibility, the meeting will be recorded, archived and streamed live through Zoom. The meeting also is to be streamed on Facebook Live on the Seneca County Commissioners page.
In old business, the board is expected to continue its discussion on the Seneca County Museum. The museum was closed in March due to COVID-19. In April, former director Tonia Hoffert was laid off because of anticipated revenue losses caused by the health crisis. In late July, the Barnes-Deinzer Seneca County Museum Foundation offered a proposal to the commissioners that would see the group provide more funding for the museum while also taking on more operational control. In late August, Commissioner Shayne Thomas provided his ideas and in early September Commissioner Mike Kerschner did the same regarding the issue.
On Thursday, the board is expected to continue its discussion, including by sharing research and information gathered in the past couple of months.
At about 10:30 a.m., staff from Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership are scheduled to update the commissioners on recent happenings related to economic development in the county.
In other action, the board is to hear a request from some local business owners requesting relief on sewer district fees due to COVID-19. The commissioners also are to discuss local cooperative development agreements.
During new business, the board is to consider:
* A $25,000 supplemental appropriation to the Workforce Investment Act Fund for contract services.
* Appointing Rhonda L. Best as a special prosecutor on behalf of the Seneca County Prosecutor.
* The emergency management services contract with the Seneca County Local Emergency Planning Commission on behalf of Seneca County Emergency Management Agency,
*Setting time, date and place to receive sealed bids for the sale of county-owned property,
