Voter registration deadline looming
By Sheri Trusty, Seneca County Media Relations Coordinator
One of the most fundamental and powerful American opportunities is the right to vote. With just a few taps of a computer screen, a Seneca County voter can play a part in impacting the future of the community and the nation. As Presidential General Election Day nears on Nov. 5, the Seneca County Board of Elections wants to ensure that eligible voters are prepared to make their voices heard.
Eligible voters need to register to vote if they have not voted in five years; moved or changed their name; or never registered to vote.
A local resident who is unsure if they are registered to vote can visit the Seneca County Board of Elections website at www.boe.ohio.gov/seneca/. Click the “Voter Registration Information” tab, and then click, “Am I Registered?” Once a name is entered, the person’s registration status, address and Election Day polling information will appear.
The website also provides information on:
- Printing an absentee application
- Becoming a poll worker
- Sample ballots
- Status of an existing absentee request
- Directions to Election Day polling locations
- Current elected officials
To register to vote, visit the Seneca County Board of Elections website and click on “Voter Registration Information,” and then click on “How to Register.” Multiple options will appear.
Online voter registration can also be completed at the Secretary of State website at https://olvr.ohiosos.gov/.
The registration deadline is always 30 days prior to an election for all types of voter registration, including online, by paper, BMV or in-person at the Board of Elections office. The last day to register to vote for the Nov. 5 General Election is Oct. 7.
Absentee ballots will be mailed on Oct. 8.
The Seneca County Board of Elections is located at 71 S. Washington St. in Tiffin. For more information, call 419-447-4424.
