Seneca-Crawford Area Transportation Officially Changes Name to North Central Area Transit, Launches Service into Huron County
Effective immediately, the public transportation organization formerly known as Seneca-Crawford Area Transportation (SCAT) has changed its name to North Central Area Transit (NCAT) while expanding service into Huron County. The new name reflects this expansion, which is the result of an agreement with Huron County Commissioners and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). The nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization will continue to offer services to Seneca and Crawford counties.
Last month, NCAT asked stakeholders to weigh in on a new name for the organization, with nearly 200 people voting. The NCAT board made the new name – and new logo – official at its December meeting.
“We are excited to offer our services to Huron County and continue to provide safe, reliable transportation throughout North Central Ohio,” said Board President Mary Hay. “We appreciate and thank all those who participated in the poll to help select a new name and look for this change. The final choice clearly represents the services we can provide to an even larger population in need of public transportation.”
Starting immediately, NCAT will bring its public transportation expertise, resources and reputation for providing excellent service and having the best drivers in public transportation to Huron County. The organization will be launching a new website to share information with its new and existing stakeholders.
“People across Seneca, Crawford and Huron counties will benefit from NCAT’s expanded service,” said Chuck Dyer from ODOT, which funds public transportation in the rural areas. “We’re eager to see NCAT bring its outstanding level of service to Huron County.”
This change does not impact either NCAT services in Seneca and Crawford counties or senior transportation in Huron County. Residents of Seneca and Crawford counties will still receive the same level of outstanding public transportation they’ve come to expect and appreciate. The Enrichment Centers for Huron County will continue to offer senior transportation in Huron County.
