Julie A. Adkins, Seneca County Auditor, Honored with the Richard J. Makowski Award at the CAAO Winter Conference
The County Auditors’ Association of Ohio (CAAO) is delighted to announce that Julie A. Adkins, Seneca County Auditor, has been bestowed with the prestigious Richard J. Makowski Award for the year 2023. This esteemed recognition was presented to Adkins at the CAAO Winter Conference held on Nov. 16 at the Renaissance Columbus Westerville-Polaris Hotel.
Established in 1996, the Richard J. Makowski Award pays homage to the legacy of the late Richard J. Makowski, a dedicated Geauga County Auditor and 1995 CAAO President. The award is a testament to individuals who mirror Makowski’s dedication, leadership and ability to bring people together for exceptional achievements.
Auditor Adkins, with her unwavering commitment and outstanding contributions to the CAAO, has demonstrated the qualities that define this esteemed award. Her active participation and leadership at the CAAO district and state levels, innovative ideas to elevate the CAAO’s stature, and her willingness to assist and share valuable information with colleagues, mark her as a deserving recipient.
The award ceremony took place during the CAAO Winter Conference, a significant event in the association’s calendar. Held at the Renaissance in Columbus Westerville-Polaris, the conference provided an ideal setting for peers and industry professionals to applaud Auditor Adkins’ exceptional achievements and contributions to the community.

Nominations for the Richard J. Makowski Award are accepted annually during October, with county auditors having the exclusive privilege to submit nominations.
