Commissioners to hear from Seneca County Opportunity Center leaders, Sheriff Thursday

[Tiffin, OH – June 21, 2022] – The Seneca County Board of Commissioners is to meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at its office, 111 Madison St.
The session will be hosted in person, but there will still be an online viewing option made available to the public.
The meeting will be streamed on Zoom and on Facebook Live, but a different experience will be offered on each platform.
Those interested in participating in the session during the public comment portion must join via Zoom. Those who are not interested in participating will be able to view a higher-quality broadcast on Facebook Live. The Facebook feed will include graphics and multiple camera angles.

Viewers may switch between the two platforms at any time, and the Facebook broadcast will include a link to the Zoom session during the public comment portion of the meeting.
At about 10 a.m. the commissioners are scheduled to open bids for the Seneca County School of Opportunity parking lot project. Following the bid opening, Superintendent Lew Hurst is expected to discuss the recent accreditation of the Seneca County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
On June 8th, it was announced that the board was awarded a three-year accreditation, the highest level of accreditation that a board can receive. This was also the Seneca County Opportunity Center’s first review that includes zero citations.
The accreditation process is a comprehensive review of operations and practices.
In other action, the commissioners are set for a joint ditch hearing with Sandusky and Wood counties at about 10:30 a.m.
At about 10:35 a.m. the board is scheduled to hear an annual report from Seneca County Sheriff Fred Stevens.
The commissioners also are slated to approve a proclamation recognizing June 19-25 as Amateur Radio Week.
During old business, the board will discuss a potential appointment to the Seneca County Board of Developmental Disabilities and continue the discussion on a draft that was introduced earlier this month concerning the commissioners’ opposition to any expansion at Sunny Farms Landfill.
In new business, the board is to consider:
* A $22,868.89 supplemental appropriation to the Enterprise Zone Fund.
* A $25,000 supplemental appropriation (gasoline) and a $100,000 supplemental appropriation (diesel fuel) to the Maintenance and Repair Fund.
* A $1,911.43 supplemental appropriation to the Sheriff Comm Fund.
* A $4,050 supplemental appropriation to the Probate and Juvenile Computer Fund for software licenses/services.
* A $6,000 supplemental appropriation to the Concealed Handgun License Fund.
* A $575 supplemental appropriation to the General Fund for training.
* Setting time, date and place to receive sealed bids for the CR 24 pavement resurfacing project.
* Appointing Kim Radison to the Seneca County Board of Developmental Disabilities, with a term expiring Dec. 31, 2024.
* Appointing Samuel Lillard as special counsel for the Seneca County Board of Developmental Disabilities on behalf of the Seneca County Prosecutor.
