Commissioners finalize committee assignments and re-organize for 2022

[Tiffin, OH – Jan. 6, 2022] – The Seneca County Board of Commissioners appointed a new board president and vice-chair for 2022 during Thursday’s reorganization meeting.
Commissioner Anthony Paradiso was elected as board president for the year, while Commissioner Tyler Shuff was chosen as vice-chair. Former Board President Mike Kerschner stepped down from a leadership position on the board as he enters the final year of his second term in office. At the end of 2022, Kerschner will have served eight years as a commissioner.
Paradiso, who entered office in July of 2019, thanked Kerschner for his time serving as board president.
“I want to recognize Commissioner Kerschner and thank him for his leadership,” he said. “We’ve been through a lot together and I just appreciate your consistency and leadership.”
Also during the session, the board finalized committee assignments for the year. Most of the committee and board assignments are the same as last year, but Shuff is to move to the Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership Board.

In other action, Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership President and CEO David Zak introduced the organization’s newest employee, Adam Gillmor.
Zak said he is excited to add another young, smart and talented person to the staff at TSEP. Gillmor, who is replacing Audrey Flood, is to serve as a development coordinator who will focus on facilitating community, entrepreneurship and rural development.
Gillmor said he is “excited” to be in Seneca County, where he has deep family ties.
“I grew up in central Ohio but I have deep roots here,” he said. “Those deep roots brought me back here.”
Gillmor’s father, Paul E. Gillmor, was a member of Congress from 1989-2007. His mother, Karen, also served in the Ohio Senate.
Gillmor graduated in 2019 from the College of Wooster with a degree in political science. Gillmor has worked for Ohio Senators Bill Reineke and Dave Burke, assisting with constituent outreach and relations, policy research and legislation and communications. Previously, Gillmor was Assistant Coordinator for Opioid Communications for the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, working with OSU Extension and mental health centers statewide in that role.
“At TSEP, we are looking for smart, talented people with drive and a strong work ethic, who care about our community and want to make a difference,” Zak said. “Adam is indeed such a person, and we’re fortunate to have him take on and learn this critical position. He’s a great addition to the team.”
During new business, the board approved all resolutions from the meeting agenda. In addition, the commissioners approved a $50,000 note payment for the Seneca County Justice Center. They also approved the appointment of Michelle Smith to the Seneca County Opportunity Center Board of Developmental Disabilities, replacing Sandy Hallett and authorized amendments to the General and non-General Fund budgets. Even with the amendments, the 2022 budget remains balanced.
