Seneca County Common Pleas Court is hiring a Pretrial Services/Probation Officer

Position Summary: This position works under the general direction of the Seneca County Common Pleas Court and is responsible for supervising Felony probation caseload and Pretrial Service Clients. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Providing recommendations for each offender/client based on their situation
• Developing treatment and rehabilitation plans
• Meeting with offenders/clients regularly to check for progress and ensure they’re following the terms of their probation and or bond conditions
• Notifying the courts of probation violations and Bond violations.
• Monitoring same sex drug and alcohol test
• Making referrals to outside entities for GPS and SCRAM as needed
• Documenting all progress and violations in the OCSS System.
• Attending hearings and other court proceedings for assigned probationers
• Coordinating support and services for probationers
• Sending correspondence to the courts as required.
• Completing In Home Field Checks
• Transporting Offenders when necessary.

• Ability to manage multiple cases at one time and keep the details straight
• Analytical and decision-making skills
• Strong communication skills, including written and verbal communication as well as active listening

• Ability to work in fast-paced and potentially dangerous situations
• Comfortable with using various software programs to track and report information
• Interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of people
• Must have or work towards becoming Certified in the Ohio Risk Assessment (ORAS).
• Must have or working towards getting all certified training through Supreme Court Ohio Judicial College.
• Must be able to legally carry a firearm
• Must have at a minimum a High School diploma and experience working in the law enforcement/corrections field.
