Justice Center, Commissioners’ Office and RTA Building to close on Fridays
Closings being made to maintain a balanced budget, still provide essential services

[Tiffin, OH April 16, 2020] – Several county offices made the decision this week to close on Fridays for the foreseeable future in an effort to cut costs in reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The judges of the Seneca County Common Pleas Court, the Tiffin-Fostoria Municipal Court, the Seneca County Clerk of Courts and the Seneca County Sheriff agreed to close the Justice Center to public access every Friday, effective April 17, and continuing until otherwise ordered by the courts. This decision was formalized by a court order.
The decision was made by justice center leaders to fulfill the needs of maintaining balanced budgets while continuing to provide essential services in light of current orders of the Governor of the state of Ohio related to the ongoing public health pandemic.
The Seneca County Commissioners’ Office and the RTA Building also are to be closed on Fridays until further notice.
The offices inside the RTA Building include the Auditor, Recorder, Treasurer and the Tax Map Office.
Business shall continue Monday through Thursday at these offices, but the precautions that were previously established will continue. As of March 18, most or all of business at the offices of the RTA Building was being conducted by e-mail or phone call, and that will continue. The only change is that the offices will not be available on Fridays.
Elected officials and department heads are still requesting that residents call ahead before attending any county offices, to reduce human-to-human contact and the spread of COVID-19.
Seneca Regional Planning Commission also is to close its doors on Fridays but will be available via phone call or e-mail during regular business hours Monday-Thursday.
The Seneca County Board of Elections is to remain open during its regular hours to conduct the by-mail Presidential Primary Election, but officials are asking residents to call ahead before coming to the office. When in doubt, call with any questions.
For any office not listed within this release, please call ahead for more information about office hours.
