Commissioners to discuss rural broadband initiative, host ditch hearing Thursday
[Tiffin, OH – Sept. 21, 2021] – The Seneca County Board of Commissioners is to meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at its office, 111 Madison St.
The session will be hosted in person, but there will still be an online viewing option made available to the public.
The meeting will be streamed on Zoom and on Facebook Live, but a different experience will be offered on each platform.
Those interested in participating in the session during the public comment portion must join via Zoom. Those who are not interested in participating will be able to view a higher-quality broadcast on Facebook Live. The Facebook feed will include graphics and multiple camera angles.

Viewers may switch between the two platforms at any time, and the Facebook broadcast will include a link to the Zoom session during the public comment portion of the meeting.
During appointments, Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership CEO David Zak is to meet with the commissioners to discuss a request for proposals document for increased rural broadband access in Seneca County. The commissioners are teaming up with TSEP in an effort to improve broadband access for citizens across the county.
At 10:15 a.m., the commissioners have a joint ditch hearing scheduled with Wyandot County.
Also during the session, the board is slated to discuss county health insurance rates. Kim Bond, of First Insurance, will join the meeting for the discussion.
During old business, the commissioners will continue last week’s discussion on the potential vacation of a portion of Continental Street.
In new business, the board is to consider:
• A $14,148 supplemental appropriation to the Juvenile Program and Services Fund for equipment.
• A $48,000 supplemental appropriation to the Maintenance and Repair Fund for contracts/projects.
• An $87,095 supplemental appropriation to the Ditch Maintenace Fund.
• A $15,000 supplemental appropriation to the Victims of Crime Act Grant Fund.
• A $97,000 supplementall appropriation to the Workforce Investment Act Fund for WIA shared costs.
• A $2,143.33 supplemental appropriation to the General Fund for wages and benefits.
• The governance plan for operation of electrical power aggregation.
• A memo of understanding for electric aggregation between the county and the County Commissioners Association of Ohio.
• Accepting the CEBCO renewal plan design and establishing the county’s premium contributions and health insurance rates for 2022.
• The participation agreement with CEBCO of Ohio, pending prosecutor’s approval.
