[Tiffin, OH – April 29, 2020] – Representatives from the Seneca County Emergency Services Department, Tiffin Fire Rescue Division and Tiffin Police Department met at National Machinery this afternoon to receive thousands of masks to help protect county first responders and residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.
National Machinery purchased 4,000 two-ply medical surgical masks to be used by first responders in the county. National Machinery CEO Andrew Kalnow personally paid for half of the cost of the masks.
The city of Tiffin is to receive 2,000 total masks to be divided between first responders.
Seneca County EMA Administrator John Spahr said the remaining 2,000 masks are to be given to first responders throughout Fostoria and the rest of Seneca County.
Kalnow said he was happy to help first responders and others throughout the community, and city and county officials were grateful for the assistance.
“The City of Tiffin is very appreciative of National Machinery’s donation of medical masks to help keep first responders, employees and staff safe as Ohio begins its phased reopening of the economy,” said Tiffin City Administrator Dale Thornton. “The generosity of National Machinery, and its owner, Andrew Kalnow, illustrates once again their continued commitment to, and investment in, this great community. Tiffin is extremely blessed to have this type of corporate support.”
Seneca County Commissioner Tony Paradiso agreed.
“We just want to thank Andrew Kalnow and National Machinery for thinking about the well-being of these first responders who are on the frontlines and are interacting with many people every day,” he said. “Our community is fortunate to have collaborative corporate partners like National Machinery.”
Kalnow also previously donated 1,250 masks to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital. He said he plans to donate another 2,000 to the hospital, along with 2,000 to the Seneca County Masks project. The project strives to provide one free mask to all Seneca County residents. To learn more about that project, visit https://senecacountymasks.com/.
