Seneca County Board of Elections Announces August 8th Special Election Details

Also releases information regarding early voting hours and polling location changes

[Tiffin, OH – June 30, 2023] – The Seneca County Board of Elections is pleased to announce the early voting hours and important information for the upcoming August 8th Special Election. The board encourages all eligible voters to participate in this election and make their voices heard.

Ohio voters will find one issue on their ballot this election—State Issue 1, which elevates the standards to qualify for and pass amendments to Ohio’s constitution. Early Voting Hours:

The early voting period for the August 8th Special Election will be as follows:

July 11-14, 17-21, and 24-28: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

July 31 and August 2-4: 7:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.

August 1: 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.

August 5: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

August 6: 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Important Deadlines:

The deadline to register to vote in this election is July 10th. To accommodate last-minute registrations, the Board of Elections office located at 71 S. Washington St. will remain open until 9 p.m. on that day. Registration includes updating addresses and name changes.

Election Day Information:

The Special Election will take place on Tuesday, August 8th. Please note that voting must be done at your assigned polling location. Voting at the Board of Elections office will not be available on Election Day. Consolidated Polling Locations:

For the August election only, several polling locations have been consolidated to reduce costs due to the anticipated low turnout. All affected voters will receive notices via mail with the updated information. The following consolidations will take place:

The Green Springs Village City Building location will be closed. Affected voters can cast their ballots at the Rodger Young VFW Hall 6067.

The Bloomville Village Office location will be closed. Affected voters can cast their ballots at the Bloom Township Fire Station.

The Eden Township County Garage location will be closed. Affected voters can cast their ballots at the Eden Township Hall and Fire Station.

The Hopewell Township Trustee Office location will be closed. Affected voters can cast their ballots at the Bascom Fire Station.

Both the Reed Township House and Attica Village Hall locations will be closed. Affected voters can cast their ballots at the Venice Township – Attica-Venice-Reed Fire Department.

Permanent Change:

In addition to the temporary consolidations for the August election, a permanent change has been made for Fostoria 1-A Voters. These voters will now cast their ballots at the UAW Hall, located at 1675 N. Union St., Fostoria.
